A Note on the Future of the Stamford Current
An Important Update for All Readers
STAMFORD — Two years ago today, the Stamford Current launched with a bold idea and unique mission to deliver timely updates on topics that matter and thought-provoking commentary for people in every Stamford neighborhood on the platforms where they are. However, despite unexpected growth, the difficult decision has been made for the Stamford Current to cease publication at this time.
For now, we will not have any new content. Nonetheless, the many news stories and opinion pieces published since early 2024 will remain available at StamfordCurrent.com for reading given the continued relevancy and impact.
Informing the Stamford Community
The Stamford Current has shared breaking news with unique angles and in-depth coverage of ongoing developments in areas like education, housing, immigration, civic engagement, public safety, arts and culture, economic growth, and public health.
This coverage occasionally included news left uncovered by other outlets in the city and region, leaving the Current as the only source for keeping the public informed in an accurate and concise way.
Across platforms like Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter), we secured a vast and expanding following of individuals who actively engaged with content that evolved to reflect our audience and meet them where they were.
The Stamford Current has even reached the top 3% of all Substack outlets for consistent publishing, ensuring that readers and followers were able to remain updated on a regular basis with the same reliable reporting that they depended on.
By the next presidential election in 2028, the majority of eligible voters will have been born after 1990. So it is important to continue proactively and authentically meeting people where they are: on social media, online, and on their phones. That includes right here in Stamford, the economic engine of the state and fastest growing city.
Over the last two years, the Stamford Current has proven that not only is there a market for this content and outlet in the city, but there is also a growing audience with a genuine interest in it.
