Annual Hope in Motion Walk Happening Sunday
Event Raises Awareness and Support for Bennett Cancer Center Patients
STAMFORD — A popular charity event will be back at Mill River Park this Sunday, June 8, which coincides with National Cancer Survivors Day. Now in its 29th year, the Hope in Motion Walk brings people together to raise awareness and funds for patients at Stamford Health’s Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center.
At 10:00 am, participants will begin in Mill River Park on the Great Lawn then continue along the Greenway Trail up to Scalzi Park and back for a total of three miles. A description of the route and a map can be viewed here.
According to the Stamford Hospital Foundation’s website, all of the money raised each year goes to funding multiple services for patients and their families. This includes counseling and emotional support, wellness programs, transportation assistance, direct assistance to help families in financial hardship cover non-medical essential expenses, support groups and mentorship programs, and education and resources for both patients and caregivers.
To take part, registration is available here and, to donate, a contribution can be made here.
Parking is located nearby at the Summer Street Garage (100 Summer Street), Bell Street Garage (28 Bell Street), and 300 Atlantic Street.
The 2025 sponsors include Ascot Group, Baywater Properties, BMW of Darien, CBRE, Edgehill, Finn Dixon & Herling LLP, Gen Re, Jackson Lewis P.C., King School, MINI of Fairfield County, Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., Stamford Ford, Stamford Office Furniture, Stamford Wrecking Company, The Ashforth Company, United HealthCare, and Wonder.
Once the annual walk and activities conclude downtown, an after-party will be held at Third Place by Half Full Brewery. The event will feature live music and food trucks.
Additionally, in a social media post, the Stamford-based brewing company shared that “$2 from every [Half Full Brewery] draft beer sold will be donated to help provide supportive services such as post-treatment exercise, counseling, transportation, daily lunches, and non-medical financial help for Bennett Cancer Center patients.”
