Downtown Parade Spectacular Returning in November. Here’s What You Need to Know
Massive Crowd Expected Once Again
STAMFORD — A popular attraction is coming back for the holiday season and is expected to garner many spectators. New details were announced so keep reading to learn more.
The Stamford Downtown Special Services District announced that the 31st annual Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular will be held this year on Sunday, November 24, at noon.
It will kick off at the intersection of Hoyt Street and Summer Street and conclude on Atlantic Street and Federal Street, conveniently near the Stamford Transportation Center for anyone interested in commuting there by train or bus.
Among the largest of its genre nationwide, according to an announcement, the parade typically draws upwards of 100,000 spectators to view all of the floats and balloons on display.
Anticipated highlights for the parade include daredevil Bello Nock. His combination of comedy and stunts has led him to being “seen by over 100 million audience members in over 20,000 live performances in over 30 countries across 6 continents, as well as generated millions of views on TV and social media.” Additionally, he received recognition for his performances from TIME magazine and The Wall Street Journal.
While more will be announced, some of the balloons to expect include Daniel Tiger, Elmo, Kung Fu Panda, Mr. Potato Head, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Scooby Doo.
There will also be bands from several local schools and organizations across the region, including the 175-member Butler High School Marching Band from Butler, Ohio, the New York Police Department Emerald Society Pipe & Drum Band, and Fairfield County Pipes & Drums.
The press release states:
“[H]igh school marching bands from Stamford, Westhill, Brentwood, Trumbull, Uniondale, the John F. Kennedy Marching Eagles from Waterbury and new to the parade this year is the Wyandanch Memorial High School Marching Warriors & Warriorettes. There will be dance groups including Center Stage Dance Studio, City Center Dance Performing Company, Dance on the DL, Hoop Girls of Stamford, Ladies of Finesse Dance Company, Locust Performing Arts Center of Stamford and The Pulse Performing Arts Studio's nova jazz, fabulous Floats, the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard, Santa and more!”
Returning as the parade’s Master of Ceremonies (MC) will be Colin Cosell, public address announcer for the New York Mets baseball team and New York Riptide lacrosse team.
On the day prior to the parade, Saturday, November 23, the Point72 Balloon Inflation Party will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at the intersection of Hoyt Street and Summer Street.
