Mayor Simmons Giving State of the City Address on April 25
Annual Chamber Event Will Highlight Progress Made and Efforts Currently Underway
STAMFORD — On Thursday, April 25, Mayor Caroline Simmons will deliver her annual State of the City speech to emphasize her administration’s achievements and lay out a policy vision for the year ahead. Held at The Village, the Stamford Chamber of Commerce event will allow business executives and community members to hear directly from the city’s leader on her priorities.
Registration will be from 3:15 - 4:15 pm, followed by the Mayor’s remarks from 4:30 - 5:00 pm, and cocktails and networking from 5:00 - 6:00 pm.
Admission is $85 for members or $95 for future members, and it is only available for individuals 21 years old or above.
In her third year, Simmons has sought to bring Stamford into a new era in city history. That began with her election as the first woman to serve in the mayoralty since the city was founded more than 380 years ago.
On the policy front, the Simmons Administration has touted proactive efforts on a wide array of issues. In the Mayor’s 2 Year Report, she highlighted projects that address housing affordability, support small businesses, make the city more environmentally resilient and sustainable, offer more resources for veterans, and increase public safety staff levels.
In just the last month, the city received a “historic” $17 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to improve access for neighborhoods along the Mill River Greenway. Since then, Stamford was also recognized in a national analysis as one of the best cities for young professionals in part due to A+ ratings for factors including commute, diversity, health & fitness, nightlife, and outdoor activities.
