The District is Getting in the Festive Spirit

STAMFORD — The city’s downtown neighborhood is going all out for the holiday season. On Friday, December 20, the Stamford Downtown Special Services District announced an expansion of their holiday lights and winning restaurants in the decoration contest.
Here’s what you need to know.
Stamford Downtown Lighting Program
The Stamford Downtown Lighting Program, organized by Stamford Downtown, grew this year, according to a press release.
“This year’s expansion includes dazzling displays along North State Street between Atlantic and Washington, and Broad Street in front of UConn Stamford, Target and The Asher, making Stamford Downtown’s streetscape more vibrant than ever,” the announcement said.
Produced by the Christmas Lighting Company of Pearl River, New York, the lighting program will be on display through mid-March.
Some highlights of the program include:
80 trees along the street adorned with 1,700 lights each along Atlantic, Bedford, Main, and Summer Streets.
Special installations at Kiwanis and LathamParks.
Multi-color displays on two grand oak trees at the Ferguson Library and Columbus Park, with the Columbus Park tree alone featuring 63,000 lights.
New installations along North State Street — between Atlantic Street and Washington Boulevard — and Broad Street at UConn Stamford, Target, and The Asher.
The Winter Lighting Program comprises nearly 250,000 multi-color and warm-white, energy-efficient LED lights in total, including a wall and tree installation of 60 cascading, light rods at Kiwanis Park.
Festoon lighting will also be added along Clark Street leading to the Bell Street Garage early next year.
