Focuses Include Infrastructure, Education, and Making Housing Affordable
STAMFORD — On Monday, December 23, Mayor Caroline Simmons released a “Year Three Report” listing accomplishments by her administration on behalf of Stamford and its residents. The document indicates that sustained progress is underway in the city, from neighborhood investments to economic growth.
“Three years ago, I had the privilege of being sworn in as the Mayor of Stamford. Since then, my team and I have been working hard to implement policies and initiatives that support my vision of building a city that is more equitable, inclusive, innovative, and a place where everyone can thrive,” Simmons, whose inauguration was held in December 2021, said in a letter in the report.
The letter mentions specific achievements made to improve the city, including:
The city’s first walk-in permitting center on the 7th floor of the Stamford Government Center
StamFORWARD, a two-year pilot program for on-demand microtransit services
$17 million in federal funding for the West Side Neighborhood Connector Project
The Stamford Regional Police Academy at the Stamford Police Department
New turf fields at Lione Park, West Beach, and Stamford High School
“Together, we have made substantial progress toward that vision,” Simmons said. “Our work is rooted in our commitment to three priorities: investing in our city’s infrastructure, advancing economic prosperity, and making government more responsive to enhance quality of life for residents.”
Among the categories listed for city accomplishments are infrastructure investments, economic prosperity, educational advancements, housing affordability, sustainability and resilience, public health & safety, and community engagement.
