Our Values

  • Reporting rooted in reality. No fear-mongering or vague assertions.

  • Community first. We cover the whole city –– from North Stamford to the Cove and everywhere in between. That means centering the voices of the people living here.

  • Concise updates. We appreciate you reading TSC, so we respect your time. Stories and commentary will inform you while getting straight to the point.

  • Committed to holding elected officials accountable who may seek to cause harm or division in the city we all love.

  • Broad perspectives. Whether you were born and raised in Stamford or moved here later, TSC will be a place for everyone.

  • As a civic news organization, we aim to provide thorough coverage of stories that matter most to Stamford residents while strengthening communities and amplifying sensible solutions to issues facing the city.

  • Intentional publishing. We will share our stories and other content to meet people where they are, whether online or by email, to ensure that everyone remains informed.

  • Pro-democracy. To ensure everyone has a voice in our city, we will use resources to protect democracy through left-leaning, truthful, and relevant information that is rooted in shared values and well being.

At the heart of our journalism is editorial objectivity as we provide a separation between any external sources of funding and the newsroom itself.

Our goal is to create a strong digital network of information for the city valuing integrity above clickbait and democracy above profits. Our funding approach and network aims to resonate with that.

Although not currently affiliated, The Stamford Current is based on the COURIER newsroom model of journalism as a public service and way to engage more people civically by meeting them where they are online with truthful, principled news and analysis.
